As a professional and licensed Mold Removal Company, removing the mold is important but to us but removing the source is just as important or it will keep returning. We do our best to ensure that the job is done right the first time to prevent recurrences because our clients' indoor air quality and health is our number one priority.
The first step in during the Mold Abatement Process would be to get rid of any moisture in the home or business that is allowing for the growth of mold spores. If there is mold in clothing or on furniture it can be removed and it can be restored to eliminate any odors and prevent any additional damage.
This is achieved by using specialized machinery called a Dehumidifier that is designed to remove the humidity and moisture from the air. In conjunction with the dehumidifier, we also use Air Movers to circulate the air into the dehumidifier and to the other common piece of machinery that we use called an Air Scrubber. Air scrubbers do exactly what it sounds like they do, scrub the air of mold or bacteria. Using all of these together helps to ensure that the air in the area is constantly being cleaned throughout the whole remediation process. This helps to eliminate any cross-contamination issues when removing the toxic material.
Mold has to be physically removed using an EPA approved anti-fungal containing detergent. Often times the detergent used by other companies is equally if not more harmful to the client's health than the mold itself. The product we use is extremely effective but is safe. The client, if they so choose could theoretically stay in the property while remediation takes place if they had to.
A biocide is an option that can be easily found and is used by some companies and homeowners as well but is not recommended since it is a poisonous chemical and it can cause a reaction from the chemical itself or still within the dead mold.
Our usual process is to:
- Set up machinery and let them run to start cleansing the air, sometimes this includes an ozone machine depending on the severity of the problem and whether the property is empty.
- Take down and properly remove any affected materials from the property per EPA guidelines
- Use our solution to properly remediate and kill off any mold spores
- Use a HEPA vacuum to remove the remnants of the dead mold spores
-Clean out and sanitize the air handling unit and ducts with our solution to ensure that the indoor air quality has all been treated and to act as a retardant for future mold growth in the lungs of the property
-Let the machines run for a little longer to make sure it got anything that got kicked up during the demo or remediation process
Contamination levels in the United States are numbered levels I, II, III, and IV which dictate the size of the area that needs Mold Remediation.
